Spray Drift

The unit has many years of experience in spray drift research, not only in undertaking experimental measurements of spray drift in the field and in wind tunnel tests, but also in developing models and analysis of data for environmental risk and human exposure assessment.

Recent work includes:

  • Comparing the efficiency of different collectors for measuring sedimenting drift in the wind tunnel;

  • Measuring the potential non-target terrestrial plant exposure in the field;

  • Investigating the filtering of spray by crop and non-crop vegetation for improving spray drift models;

  • Developing a range of novel techniques for reducing drift exposure in commercially confidential R&D projects;

  • Providing expertise towards policy-makers.
